What is it?
The Ransom Network is nothing more than an idea that is gaining a fair amount of support. The vision is to be
able to serve churches, ministries, and other non-profit organizations in the area of I.T.Support. The base idea
is much like that of an insurance company. A group of organizations poll together and the needs are met for those
who require it at that time. Through the advancements in technology, one technician could possible serve 10 to 20
organizations depending onthe needs of those organizations. Each organization woud be assigned a technician
that they would share with a designated number of other organizations. A few deciding factors would be considered
to determine how many other organizations they would share that technician with. Some of these factors would be
need, financial ability, geographic location, etc. The Ransom Networ would also be a central point for donations.
When a coporation is looking to donate equipment for tax purposes, The Ransom Network would receive this
equipment and issue the tax receipt. This equipment would then be sorted and warehoused and distributed to
the member organizations on a need-basis. The Ransom Network would provide other I.T. related services on a
per-case basis.
Where is it?
The primary target location for the initial launch is the Northern Virginia area. A secondary target
is Southwestern Pennsylvania. Northern Virginia is breeding ground for new and innovative ideas and
technology and is an ideal area to gain support in tech-related projects. Southwestern PA is in close
proximity to Northern Virginia and appears to have a great need for these types of services.
How can I help?
Right now The Ransom Network is in the very beginning stages. It is very little more than an idea right
now but more people are becomming interested every month. Our biggest need right now is for people who have
a good working knowledge of starting and running an IRS 501c3 Organization. Also, others with a good background
in accounting is a great need as well. We are, of course, looking for any technical background. Please email
bmertz@ransomnet.org if you have anything to offer.
How can my organization sign up?
Right now, The Ransom Network is not in a position to offer the services that it plans to in the future. We are,
however, looking for organizations that may be interested in taking part in services such as these. Becomming
a member organization would involve an annual fee. This fee would cover the cost of warehousing, administration,
and a fair salary for the technicians that join the team. Because this platform may require high amounts of
dedication from technicians on staff, it would be logical to not leave them in a position where they need to find
supplemental income. Having dedicated team members is crucial to making this platform work.
